Vera the slightly mad penguin waiting for her brother
Vera the slightly mad penguin was waiting patiently for her little brother to be ready to come out into the big, big world. She felt like he had been in there for ages. Maybe he had even been outside too, without her knowing, because someone had planted some daisies at his door. She did understand his need to feel really secure before he entered the world, but she was also a little bit hurt that he didn’t trust her to take care of him.
Svein, the adorable tiny brother penguin, peeked out at the big black bird staring straight at his little house. He didn’t dare step outside anymore — and that big bird didn’t look like it was leaving anytime soon.
Svein’s tiny house was beginning to get really tight. Sometimes he just had to peek his beak outside the door, just to breathe.
Vera was almost falling asleep when a crow appeared and stared hungrily at her adorable brother’s tiny home. Vera got furious — and in the commotion she accidentally kicked her brother’s house and it broke.
Svein didn’t know what happened. The crow left. Vera felt awfully guilty.
Oh, she thought, this was not a good start on a relationship.
Svein looked at Vera and said, almost whispering, “Did Crow bring any flowers this time?”
Vera’s beak twitched. She remembered the daisies at his door — maybe Crow had brought them, maybe not. She didn’t know what to answer.
“No… I think not today,” she said, trying to sound sure. But Svein just tilted his head and looked at the broken pieces of his tiny house.
Then he sighed.
